Host Brent Rutemiller runs down the list of the three college conference championships that started earlier this week. The men's Big 12 meet opened strong with a new American record in the 800 free relay that gives Texas an edge in that event at the NCAAs.

With college and age group swimmers tapering for various meets in the next few weeks, Rutemiller discusses the types of tapers with Jonty Skinner, USA Swimming's performance science and technology director. Skinner uses coaches Gregg Troy and Paul Yetter as examples of the two different taper strategies that work best among elite athletes.
