ANNAPOLIS, Maryland, February 23. THE Navy men won their fifth-consecutive Patriot League title on Saturday night with a grand total of 887 points, while the Colgate women earned their first-ever Patriot League Championship trophy in the sport of women's swimming and diving with 723.5 total points.

The 2008 Patriot League Male Swimmer of the Meet award went to Army senior Jake Mentele. It is the second consecutive year that an Army swimmer has won the award, after Zach Disbrow accomplished the feat in 2007. Mentele was impressive at the '08 meet, finishing first in the 200 IM (, 100 Breast and 200 Breast events. Mentele finishes his career with the most Patriot League Championship Meet career points of any member of the class of 2008.

The 2008 Patriot League Female Swimmer of the Meet award went to Navy's Tara Chapmon, who had three of the most impressive individual performances at this year's meet. Chapmon earned individual titles in the 200 Free, 500 Free and 1,650 Free races, all of which were in Patriot League and Patriot League Championship Meet record times. Chapmon was also a member of the first place 800 Free Relay and 400 Free Relay teams and the second place 400 Medley Relay Team.

The 2008 Patriot League Male Diver of the Meet award was given to Navy's Jonathan Galinski, after he recorded individual victories in the one and three-meter diving competitions. The junior posted a score of 325.20 to win the one-meter event, and a score of 332.00 to earn the title in the three-meter event.

The 2008 Patriot League Female Diver of the Meet award was given to Navy senior Katie Griffin. Griffin, who also won the award at the 2007 meet, earned individual titles in both the one meter and three-meter diving events. In the one meter, Griffin recorded a score of 261.10 points, while she posted a three-meter score of 300.75 points.

In their first Patriot League Championship Meet, the two rookie of the meet award winners had an impressive debut.

The 2008 Patriot League Male Rookie of the Meet award went to Navy's Alex Buck. Buck totaled 47.50 individual points throughout the course of the three days, and posted first-place finishes in the 800 and 200 Free Relays, a second-place finish in the 100 Free, a third-place finish in the 200 Free and a fourth-place finish in the 50 Free.

The 2008 Patriot League Female Rookie of the Meet was awarded to Colgate's Erin McGraw. The freshman won two individual events in the 200 IM and 100 Fly events, and set a new Patriot League and Patriot League Championship Meet Record in the 100 Fly. McGraw also swam to a third-place finish in the 200 Fly.

The 2008 Patriot League Men's Coach of the Year was awarded to Bucknell Head Coach Dan Schinnerer. This marks the second time in the past three years that a Bucknell coach has won the award. Schinnerer led his team to a second-place finish on the men's side, tallying 683.5 total points.

The 2008 Patriot League Women's Coach of the Year award went to Navy's John Morrison for the second-consecutive year. Morrison led his team to a second-place overall finish at the 2008 meet with 679 total points.

For the second-consecutive year, and for the fourth time overall, the Patriot League Diving Coach of the Year award goes to Navy's Joe Suriano. Suriano's divers had a fantastic showing at the 2008 meet, as Galinski and Griffin each posted individual wins.
