Kyle Whitaker Drops 200 IM National Public High School Record

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, February 23. AT the IU Natatorium at IUPUI, sophomore Kyle Whitaker gave the crowd something to cheer for at the Indiana State Championships when he broke a 14-year-old National Public High School record in the 200 IM.

Whitaker, who swims for Chesterton, clocked a time of 1:46.75 that cleared the 1:46.90 set by Jason Lancaster swimming for Carmel on Feb. 26, 1994.

Whitaker clocked legs of 22.68, 26.94, 31.43 and 25.70, but fell just short of the overall national high school record of 1:46.31 set by Bradley Ally for St. Thomas Aquinas in 2004.
