Good Luck Beijing FINA Diving World Cup: Day Two

BEIJING, China, February 20. THE Chinese continued to wow the home crowd, this time sweeping gold and silver in the women's platform event at the Good Luck Beijing FINA Diving World Cup at the National Aquatics Center (Water Cube).

Chen Ruo Lin claimed the gold medal with a jaw-dropping 449.35, including a plus-100 diver in the final round. She accumulated 102 points from a 2½ somersaults with 1½ twists piked in the final round.

Her teammate Wang Xin grabbed silver with a total score of 405.00, while Mexico's Paola Espinosa nabbed bronze with a 396.35.

For the U.S., youngster Haley Ishimatsu, 15, took eighth with 321.15 points while Laura Wilkinson finished 12th with 306 points.

In men's three-meter preliminary action, China's He Chong led with 499.05 points with Canada's Alexandre Despatie placing second with 476.05 points. Japan's Ken Terauchi took third with 455.40 points.

Troy Dumais took sixth with 445.90 points, while Chris Colwill placed 15th with 407.95 points to represent the U.S.
