Florida Gulf Coast, University of Miami v. Florida Atlantic

BOCA RATON, Florida, February 2. IN the final home meet of the regular season, the Florida Atlantic University women's swimming and diving team avenged an earlier loss this season to the University of Miami, (184.50-115.50) and took its second win of the year against Florida Gulf Coast University (242-58). Nine seniors, Brittany Fabry, Shawna Griffith, Jenny Harms, Danielle Kuykendall, Jessica Lampkin, Colleen Lehane, Samantha Schlachterman, Lauren Shue and Lisa Thompson, were all honored before the meet.

Three divers qualified for the NCAA Diving Zones as Lauren Harvath, Schlachterman and Thompson all posted season-best scores on the 1-meter board. Thompson won the event with a score of 280.20 with Harvath placing third (277.30) and Schlachterman fourth (265.43). On the three-meter board, the three divers all placed in the top-four with Harvath (279.30) and Schlachterman (279.30) both earning their top scores of the season.

Several swimmers also swam their best of the year. Bianca Murphy had season-best times in the 50 free (24.30), 100 free (51.96) and 200 free (1:54.18). With those times she picked up one first-place finish and two second-place finishes.

Jennifer Forcht also had two season-best times and picked up two second-place finishes with times of 57.79 in the 100 fly and 2:06.84 in the 200 fly. In the backstroke events, Lindsey Alexander swam her fastest times of the season with a 57.13 in the 100 back and 2:04.51 in the 200 back to earn two wins. Whitney Roper also won the 100 breast with a season-best 1:06.44.

Seniors Shawna Griffith and Lauren Shue also picked up wins at the meet. Griffith won the 200 fly by touching the wall in 2:04.85, while Shue won the 500 free in 5:00.62.
