Dartmouth, University of Pennsylvania v. Yale

NEW HAVEN, Connecticut, January 19. THE Bulldogs topped Dartmouth 244 to 55 while defeating Penn 217 to 79 Saturday at home. Yale had a first place finisher in 14 of the 16 events.

In the 200-yard medley, the team of sophomore Tom Robinson, junior Matt Sweitzer, junior Chris Pool, and junior Alex Righi took first place with a time of 1:33.33.

Freshman Matt Lee took first place in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:33.16. Junior Dennen McCloskey finished in first place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 53.61.

In the 100-yard breaststroke, Sweitzer won by 6 hundredths of a second with a time of 58.72. Pool took first place in the200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:51.77.

Righi finished in first place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 20.55. Righi also grabbed first place in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 44.79.

In the 200-yard backstroke, Robinson took first place with a time of 1:52.40. Sophomore Craig Steen finished in first place in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:10.95.

Pool finished in first place in the 100 yard butterfly by topping his nearest competitor by over two seconds with a time of 49.87. In the 200-yard IM, freshman Lugar Choi had a first place finish with a time of 1:56.66.

The relay team of Pool, freshman Ege Gurdeniz, Robinson and Righi took first place in the 400-yard freestyle.

Senior Jeffrey Lichtenstein took first place in both the 1-meter and the 3-meter diving events.

The Yale women defeated Dartmouth 225 to 75 and Penn 186 to 114 at home. The Bulldogs took first place in 12 of the 16 races.

The Bulldogs took first place finishes in both relay events. In the 200-yard medley relay, freshman Becca Stern, sophomore Susan Kim, sophomore Andrea Clifford, and junior Alexis Mann took first place with a time of 1:48.15. Sophomore Laura E Grigereit, Stern, Clifford and Mann finished in first place with a time of 3:35.50.

Freshmen played a big role in the Bulldogs victory Saturday. In the 1000-yard freestyle, freshman Brittany Iacouzze took first place by 11 hundredths of a second with a time of 10:14.80. Iacouzze also placed first in the 500-yard freestyle by winning by over four seconds with a time of 4:59.53. Freshman Annie Killian won the 200-yard freestyle by 10 hundredths of a second with a time of 1:54.50. In the 200-yard butterfly, freshman Ileanna Lucos grabbed first place by over two seconds with a time of 2:06.41. Lucos took the 100-yard butterfly by 13 hundredths of a second with a time of 58.89.

In the 100-yard breaststroke, junior Marilee Kiernan finished in first place with a time of 1:07.24. Mann finished in first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.26. In the 200-yard breaststroke, Kim won by over five seconds with a time of 2:21.74.

Senior Ali Jones swept the diving events with first place finishes in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving.
