Auburn Women, Texas Men Stand Atop Latest CSCAA Rankings

PHOENIX, Arizona, January 18. IN most cases, the spring semester has begun and Division I swimming programs have resumed their dual meet schedules. The top ranked Auburn women have started the New Year on the right track by winning three dual meets during a visit to the Lone Star state. The Tigers outscored the Texas Longhorns (157-80), Southern Methodist University Mustangs (218-72), and the Texas A&M Aggies (155-139) last weekend. The Texas men had similar success to begin 2008 by defeating the Auburn Tigers (129.5-113.5) and the Georgia Bulldogs (157-135).

The Louisiana State men and women enjoyed the largest improvement in this week's polls. The Tiger women moved up four spots while the men advanced three spots to both be ranked 19th. The other highlights of this week's polls are the new additions of Arkansas (25th) to the women's poll and Santa Barbara (tied for 25th) in the men's poll.

This year's poll will be published eight times and the champions will be crowned on Feb. 27, 2008. Pollsters representing eight conferences along with two at-large voters have the task of ranking the top dual meet teams in the nation bi-weekly throughout the season. Additionally, the group of pollsters is completely different for the men's and women's rankings. This poll should not be confused with the results of the NCAA Division I Swimming & Diving championships that will take place in March.
