Ryan Lochte Named U.S. Olympic Committee’s Athlete of the Month

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, December 17. THE U.S. Olympic Committee named Ryan Lochte as its November Male Athlete of the Month. Lochte's month was highlighted by a record-breaking performance at the 2007 ConocoPhillips USA Swimming Short Course National Championships, Nov. 29-Dec. 1.

Lochte set two American records at the meet, breaking his own records in the 200y IM and 200y backstroke. Lochte beat Michael Phelps in the 200y IM and was awarded with the ConocoPhillips Performance Award for the swim.

Lochte's accomplishments at the Short Course National Championships also included gold in the 50y free and 400y IM. His first-place finishes in four events along with his record-breaking 200y IM and 200y back earned him the Kiphuth Award, presented to the meet's highest scorer.
