Swimming World Announces College Swimmers of the Week

PHOENIX, Arizona, December 6. SOPHOMORE Julia Smit of Stanford and senior Albert Subirats of Arizona have been named as Swimming World Magazine's College Swimmers of the Week.

The award is an extension of the National Collegiate Swimmer of the Week (NCSW) honors given out by Collegeswimming.com across three divisions of NCAA competition.

While Smit and Subirats took home Division I NCSW honors, Viktoria Molnar of Bridgeport and Jared Zimmer of Lewis claimed the Division II awards. Liz Horvat of Emory and John Thomas of Johns Hopkins completed the divisional accolades with top honors in Division III.

Smit helped Stanford to second place out of 15 teams competing at the Texas Invitational. Stanford tallied 768 points, behind only Arizona's 859. Smit clocked strong A-cut times in the 200 IM (1:56.74), 400 IM (4:06.95), 200 back (1:54.39) and 100 back (54.27), while also helping Stanford to an A cut in the 200 free relay (1:30.18).

Subirats also lit up Austin as he helped Arizona to second place with 610.5 points, behind Texas' first-place 704. The senior clocked A cut times in the 100 fly (46.21), 100 back (45.91), 200 back (1:43.21) and 200 breast (1:56.81).
