Georgia Fall Invitational Day Two

ATHENS, Georgia, December 1. THE Georgia women's swimming and diving team picked up five additional NCAA automatic qualifying times to highlight the Georgia Fall Invitational at Gabrielsen Natatorium.

"It was a great night tonight," Georgia head coach Jack Bauerle said. "We did a terrific job, and I was happy with our overall performance. Our women's team comes at you in waves and sure is doing a great job. Our men were solid again as well. We are very pleased with how the invitational is going."

The Lady Bulldogs have a two-day total of 824 points, outdistancing Virginia's 614. The Bulldogs have accumulated 716 points, bettering Northwestern's 493.5.

Chelsea Nauta recorded an A cut time in the 200-yard freestyle, winning in 1:46.14. Kelly McNichols won the 100-yard breaststroke with an A cut time of 1:01.80, while Colleen Haase, who was second in the final, posted an A cut of 1:01.07 in the prelims.

Aleksandra Putra punched her ticket to the NCAAs as she won the 100-yard backstroke in 53.89. The 800-yard freestyle relay team of Courtney Monsees, Putra, Kelly McNichols and Nauta won with an A cut time of 7:08.85.

The Lady Bulldogs opened the finals by winning the 200-yard medley relay. The team of Lauren English, McNichols, Anne-Marie Botek and Jessica Cole stopped the clock in 1:41.35.

Gil Stovall took the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 47.31. Mark Dylla picked up a victory in the 100-yard backstroke, touching in 49.17. Chris Colwill claimed the 1-meter springboard, scoring 434.85 points.

The 800-yard freestyle relay team of Stovall, Troyden Prinsloo, Nathan Bibliowicz and Sebastien Rouault was victorious, stopping the clock in 6:33.10.
