Australian Star Suffers Malady

BRISBANE, Australia, November 29. IN an article published by The Courier Mail, head coach John Rogers explained that Australian middle-distance star Bronte Barratt has been afflicted by glandular fever, also known as infectious mononucleosis.

"Her times went from the sublime to the ridiculous and we thought 'Gee, what's up?'" Rogers told The Courier Mail. "She said 'I don't feel bad, I just can't go'."

Rogers has cut back Barratt's training as she attempts to rest up and recover from the illness. He also stated that his entire team has been tested for the viral infection and that Barratt is the only one suffering from it.

With Australia's Olympic Trials coming up in March, Rogers is hoping that Barratt can get back to her usual regime as soon as possible.

Barratt's most recent success came when she broke Tracey Wickham's Australian record in the 400 free, which stood for 29 years, before Barratt clocked a 4:05.93 in August.
