Two More National Records Fall at Swedish Short Course Championships

JONKOPING, Sweden, November 23. TWO more Swedish records fell during the second day of swimming at the Swedish Short Course Championships held in Jonkoping, Sweden from Nov. 22-25.

The men's 200 freestyle relay of Pontus Flodqvist (23.25), Stefan Nystrand (20.61), Petter Stymne (21.20) and Peter Edvardsson (22.48) broke the Swedish record in the event with a time of 1:27.54 to nip the previous record of 1:27.96 set in 2006.

The women got on the national-record board during the meet when Gabriella Fagundez shattered the Swedish record with a time of 4:03.97 in the 400 freestyle. She eclipsed the previous standard of 4:05.40 set by Josefin Lillhage in 2004. She also moved into sixth in the world this year behind Denmark's Lotte Friis (4:03.47).

Meanwhile, Joline Hostmann (200 breast – 2:24.88), Therese Svendsen (100 back – 1:02.18), Petra Granlund (100 fly – 58.37) and Claire Hedenskog (50 free – 24.94) claimed the rest of the women's titles.

For the men, Christer Tour (100 breast – 1:01.39), Johan Claar (1500 free – 15:27.83), Petter Stymne (100 free – 48.08), Simon Sjodin (200 back – 1:58.52) and Lars Frolander (50 fly – 23.68) all earned event crowns.
