FEDERAL WAY, Washington, November 20. GARFIELD'S 400 freestyle relay looked to lock up the first-ever team title for Garfield High School with a win in the final event of the Washington Women's 4A State Championships.

The relay fell to Inglemoor's foursome, and Garfield settled for sharing the team title with the perennial juggernaut, Inglemoor.

Inglemoor and Garfield each amassed 216 points throughout the course of the meet en route to the shared championship. Ballard conjured up 181.5 points and took the third-place team honor.

Inglemoor placed first in two of the three relay events. The 200 freestyle relay contingent of McKenzie Nakamura, Claire Thompson, Jayme Swalin and Megan Caylor placed first in the shorter of the two freestyle relays with a 1:38.76 time. Inglemoor's 400 freestyle relay consisting of Swalin, Katie Chapman, Chrissy Baumgartner and Caylor ensured a share in a fourth-straight Inglemoor state title with a 3:36.14 time.

Redmond's Maureen Cardwell notched two individual titles with wins in both the 50 freestyle (24.20) and the 100 butterfly (57.17). Cardwell was the meet's only double-event winner.

Stacey Luke of Inglemoor stood atop the podium for her diving score of 388.75. Nicole Woodworth of Roosevelt picked up the second-place spot (359.35) while Anna Steiner of Lake Washington placed third (356.75).
