Masters World Records Fall at Bridge the Bay SCM Meet

SARASOTA, Florida, November 13. OVER the weekend, a few Masters world records fell by the wayside at the Bridge the Bay Masters SCM meet held in Sarasota, Fla., on Nov. 11. The split-day meet will conclude on Nov. 18 in St. Petersburg, Fla., with another day of swimming.

Jean Troy, 80, swimming for the Florida Maverick Masters clocked a 400 freestyle time of 7:20.96 to eclipse the previous women's 80-84 world record of Margery Meyer (7:22.84) set on Oct. 13, 2002. Troy went on to surpass the 400 IM record (9:31.73) set by Lois Kivi Nochman on Jan. 18, 2004 when Troy hit the wall in 9:30.65.

Special thanks to Rick Walker of the Sarasota YMCA for contributing to this report.
