Denver vs. Pacific

STOCKTON, California, November 9. THE Pacific women's swimming team opened up their dual meet season with a 155 – 104 win over University of Denver on Nov. 9, while the men fell to the Pioneers in their season opener by a score of 142 – 120. With the win, the women advanced to 1-0 on the year, while the men fell to an 0-1 start on the season with the loss.

Capturing individual first place finishes for the Pacific women's swimming team in the meet were Ja-Neil Bragg (Manteca, Calif.), Ziada Jardine (Cape Town, South Africa), Kristin Okazaki (Auburn, Wash.), and Jenny Lewis (Hesperia, Calif.).

Bragg led the Tigers with first place finishes in the 200 Free where she recorded a time of 1:52.41, the 500 Free where she touched in 4:58.85, and in the 200 IM were she finished with a time of 2:05.78. Recording two first place finishes apiece on the day were Okazaki and Lewis, while Jardine finished first for the Tigers in one event on the afternoon.

Okazaki won the 100 Fly with a time of 57.58 and the 200 Fly with a time of 2:04.41, while Lewis finished first in the 50 Free in the 100 Free with times of 23.86 and 53.03 and Jardine was the first to touch in the 100 Breast with a time of 1:05.09.

The men also had four individual first place finishes in the dual meet as Maxwell Maris (Highlands Ranch, Colo.), David Dunn (Morgan Hill, Calif.), Wojciech Betlej (Mielec, Poland), and Krzysztof Zoldak (Oswiecim, Poland) each finished first in an event.

Maris finished first in 1000 Free with a time of 9:31.42, Dunn finished first in the 100 Breast with a time of 57.64, Betlej won the 200 Back swimming the event in 1:52.43, and Zoldak swam a 1:51.17 in the 200 IM to finish first.

The Tigers also won three of four relays on the day as the women won the 200 Medley Relay and the 200 Free Relay and the men won the 200 Medley Relay. Competing on the women's 200 Medley relay were Lewis, Jardine, April Woo (Honolulu, Hawaii), and Bragg. Competing in the women's 200 Free Relay were Samantha Caldwell (Phoenix, Ariz.), Lewis, Devonie Migues (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.), and Woo. Competing on the men's 200 Free Relay were Dunn, Thomas Peart (Livermore, Calif.), B.J. Damazo (Paradise, Calif.), and Justin Canty (El Cajon, Calif.).

The Tigers will next be in action on Nov. 15-17 as they will compete in the Nike Cup Invitational in Long Beach, Calif.
