Southern Methodist University vs. Air Force

DALLAS, Texas, November 3. THE SMU men's swimming and diving team won their second dual meet in as many weeks, beating Air Force soundly, 147-93.

The meet was highlighted by strong performances from freshman diver Matthew Culbertson and swimmers Maverick Smalley and Alex Hetland.

Smalley and Hetland each collected two first place finishes in their respective races and Culbertson turned in a perfect dive on both the one-meter and three-meter boards en route to the Mustangs winning all but one event.

The day kicked off with the 200 medley relay. The combination of Pontus Renholm, Hetland, Brett Denham and Thomas Fadnes proved too much for the Falcons, as the Mustangs took first, finishing over three and a half seconds ahead of second place. The third place Mustangs in Colton Ingraham, Mitchell Johnson, Grega Plevelj and Jerr Merritt touched the wall four-tenths of a second behind the second-place Falcons.

The 1650 free was the only event in which SMU did not take a first-place finish. Chris Ginder had a strong showing, finishing second with a time of 16:33.21.
