ECU Sweeps Towson (M:181-107; W:154-140)

GREENVILLE, North Carolina, October 27. SENIOR Rebecca Perry registered a NCAA `B' qualifying time of 23.12 in the leadoff split of the 200-yard free relay to help the East Carolina women's swimming and diving team improve to 4-0 with a 154-140 win over Towson here Saturday.

The men's team improved to 3-1 with a dominating 181-107 victory over Towson, recording 13 first place finishes.

With her qualifying time, Perry helped establish a new pool record in the 200 free relay along with teammates Jenna Stewart, Katlin Potts and Rachel Blue. Perry also recorded a pair of first place individual finishes in the 50 freestyle (23.30) and 200 backstroke (2:04.70).

Krista Hanson joined Perry, Potts and Stewart to win the 200-yard medley relay. Stewart earned an individual victory in the 100-yard freestyle (52.35) as did Blue in the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.30)

Freshman Stephanie Harper won a pair of individual events as well, taking home first place in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.94) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:24.02).

Senior Greg Neville swept the backstroke events to pace the men's squad; winning the 100-yard (51.51) and 200-yard (1:54.90) races. Freshman Matthew Saccurato also recorded a pair of first place finishes in the 200-yard butterfly (1:56.45) and 400-yard IM (4:16.47).

Seven other male swimmers also recorded fist place finishes.

Senior divers Christie Icenhower and Ryan Hunt swept the diving events with each winning on the one-meter and three-meter boards.

ECU returns to dual meet competition on Tuesday, October 30 against arch-rival UNC Wilmington. The meet is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start on the UNCW campus.
