Adelphi Sweeps Baruch (M:59-34; W:55-39)

GARDEN CITY, New York, October 24. IN their 2007-2008 season debut, Adelphi Men's and Women's Swimming come out on top against Baruch College. The women scored 55 points to the Bearcat's 39, while the men scored 59 points over Baruch's 34 in their respected victories.

The meet began with a men's and women's win in the 200-yard medley relay, and closed with a Panther sweep in the 200-yard freestyle relay. In between, Adelphi won 19 out of the 22 events, including 11 events where the Panthers placed first and second consecutively. Adelphi had multiple event winners including Amanda Knapp (Utica, N.Y), who placed first in the 200-yard medley relay, 200-yard IM, and the 100-yard breaststroke, and Caylee Squillante (Sayville, N.Y), who placed first in the 100-yard freestyle and the 50-yard freestyle. On the Men's side, Zachary Terzano (West Hempstead, N.Y.) won both the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle.

The Bearcats showed strength in the distance events, winning both the women's 1000-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle. The men saw close races in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard backstroke.

The Panthers will look to continue their success when they host the Queens College Knights, Tuesday, October 30, beginning at 6:00pm.
