Navy Takes Victory Over Johns Hopkins (M: 162-95; W: 166-120)

ANNAPOLIS, Maryland, October 19. THE Navy men's and women's swimming teams improved their respective records with victories over Johns Hopkins in Lejeune Hall. The Navy women's squad posted a 166-120 victory over the Blue Jays, while the Navy men recorded a 162-95 victory.

"We were really pleased with the performance of our team tonight," said Navy women's swimming head coach John Morrison. "The team really trained consistently all week and it paid off. Hats off to Johns Hopkins and coach George Kennedy for many tight races. We are looking forward to having a great practice Saturday morning to begin setting the tone for the next meet."

"Overall, we are pleased with our performances tonight," said Navy men's swimming head coach Bill Roberts. "Our goal coming into the meet was to improve on last week and I feel we accomplished that."

Winning multiple events on the day for the Navy women's team was Tara Chapmon (So., Virginia Beach, Va.) in the 400 and 1500 freestyle events (4:28.81, 17:18.84), Thuy-Mi Dinh (So., Anaheim, Calif.) in the 100 back (1:07.69) and 100 freestyle (59.33), and Kelly Zahalka (Jr., Richmond, Va.) in the 100 breaststroke (1:15.69) and the 200 individual medley (2:23.26).

On the men's side, Aaron Aiken (Fr., Ocala, Fla.) won the 100 and 200 freestyle events (51.68, 1:54.23) for Navy, while teammate Adam Meyer (So., Bethesda, Md.) won the 200 butterfly (2:04.38) and 200 breaststroke races (2:22.40).
