World Military Games: Chinese, Russians Lead Second Day of Swimming

HYDERABAD, India, October 16. DURING the second day of swimming at the World Military Games, the Chinese women and Russian men posted the best overall team performances. China claimed three medals in the women's events, while the Russians did the same, but with two of the gold variety.

In men's events, Russia's Yury Prilukov won the 400 free with a time of 3:50.96, while Greece's Spryidon Gianniotis took second in 3:52.89. Romania's Dragos Coman rounded out the top three in 3:53.58.

In the 100 back, Slovakia's Lubos Krizko topped the field with a time of 56.08, while Russia's Evgeny Aleshin (57.09) and China's Zhao Tao (57.23) placed second and third, respectively. Meanwhile, Russia's Nikolay Skvortsov claimed the 200 fly in 1:57.43, while Ukraine's Sergiy Advena (2:00.62) and Italy's Paolo Villa (2:02.64) completed the podium.

For the women, Romania's Camelia Potec came out on top of the 400 free in 4:12.84. China's Li Xue (4:13.26) and Russia's Darya Belyakina (4:16.35), fresh off a Games-record in the 200 IM, wound up in second and third.

China's Yang Li touched first in the 100 back (1:01.34), while her compatriot Xu Tianlongzi finished second right behind in 1:01.54. Russia's Anastasia Zueva closed out the top three in 1:02.04.
