Vladimir Dyatchin, Angela Maurer Triumphant at Singapore Stop of FINA 10K Marathon Swimming World Cup Series

SINGAPORE, October 8. ON Sunday, Russia's Vladimir Dyatchin and Germany's Angela Maurer conquered their respective fields at the Singapore stop of the FINA 10K Marathon Swimming World Cup series.

Dyatchin emerged from a tight lead pack that included The Netherlands' Maarten van der Weijden and Greece's Spyridon Gianniotis to win the men's race. Dyatchin clocked a time of 1:57:36, while van der Weijden finished second in 1:57:37 and Gianniotis took third in 1:57:38.

Maurer stopped the clock in 2:00:04 to win among the women, while China's Yang Jieqiao placed second in 2:00:16 and Australia's Alexandra Bradley finished third in 2:00:22.

With one more race left to go in Cancun, Mexico on Oct. 20, Dyatchin and Maurer own commanding leads in the overall series. Dyatchin boasts 122 points with van der Weijden in second with 86 points and Gianniotis in third with 62 points. Meanwhile, Maurer holds 142 points, while Germany's Britta Kamrau-Corestein (98) and Brazil's Poliana Okimoto (70) round out the top three.
