Valerio Cleri, Poliana Okimoto Enjoy Repeat Victories at Hong Kong Stop of FINA 10K Marathon Swimming World Cup Series

HONG KONG, China, October 1. OVER the weekend, Italy's Valerio Cleri and Brazil's Poliana Okimoto came away with victories from the Hong Kong stop of the FINA 10K Marathon Swimming World Cup series.

After both had already won the last stop in Shantou, China, the dynamic pair picked up another set of triumphs. Cleri stopped the clock in 1:43:57.00 to win the men's event, while Okimoto turned in a first-place 1:50:11.35 readout.

The win gave Cleri his third consecutive victory after wins in Vienna and Shantou, while Okimoto's conquest was her second in a row.

Vladimir Dyatchin of Russia took second in 1:43:59.00 to maintain his overall series lead, while Italy's Simone Ercoli finished third for the men in 1:43:59.25.

Germany's Britta Kamrau-Corestein earned second place with a time of 1:50:11.45 to remain second overall, while China's Yang Jieqiao placed third in 1:50:11.55.

Overall, Dyatchin owns the lead with 102 points after nine races, while The Netherlands Maarten van der Weijden (68) and Cleri (60) are second and third. For the women, Germany's Angela Maurer paces the field with 122 points, while Kamrau-Corestein (98) and Okimoto (70) round out the top three.
