Michael Scott Named High Performance Consultant by British Swimming

LONDON, England, September 13. BRITISH Swimming today announced the appointment of Michael Scott as a High Performance Consultant.

Scott, a 51-year-old Australian, has been involved in swimming for a large part of his life, has a wealth of experience in high performance sport and most recently was Chief Executive of the FINA World Championships in Melbourne, March 2007.

"We are delighted to have Michael on board at this time," David Sparkes, Chief Executive of British Swimming said. "He has an excellent track record in swimming and sport and whilst our search for a permanent National Performance Director continues, Michael will ensure continuity by managing the team and program that has been put in place by Bill Sweetenham. I believe he will give the swimmers and coaches the necessary guidance and leadership required to carry out the existing program in the run up to the Olympics."

Scott will officially take up the position on Oct. 1 2007.

Special thanks to British Swimming for contributing this report.
