Germans Gina Mohr, Toni Franz Win Mersin Open Water Cup --

MERSIN, Turkey, September 4. DURING the weekend, Germans Gina Mohr and Toni Franz claimed 10K victories at the Mersin Open Water Cup held in Turkey.
Mohr surfaced from the women's pack with a time of 2:18:09.28, while Alessa Doerling of Germany finished second in 2:19:07.81. Israel's Olga Beresneva rounded out the top three in 2:19:41.13.
In the men's event, Franz stopped the clock first in 2:01:51.22, while France's Joanes Hedel took second in 2:02:16.31. Germany's Danny Stohr placed third in 2:07:12.63.

September 4, 2007 How do you think the Europeans will fare in Beijing? I am excited to see how they stack up against the US swimmers!

September 4, 2007 I don't know for sure. It is going to be interesting to see in Beijing how it all goes down. When you have big guns like Edith van Dijk coming out of retirement to go after the gold, I think the open water event is going to be incredible in Beijing.
I just wonder what swimmers like Chloe Sutton, Chip Peterson, Mark Warkentin and Kalyn Keller are going to have to say for the U.S.
