Altamar 66K Register English Channel Double-Crossing Relay World Record

DOVER, England, August 28. RECENTLY, we reported that Bulgarian Petar Stoychev broke the record for the quickest crossing of the English Channel. More news, however, has come out about another world record set at the English Channel.

The Altamar 66K team of Nicole Gonzalez-Hermosillo, Laura Vaca, Ana Rodal, Hellen Plaschinski, Leticia Flores and Isabel Cantu eclipsed the double-crossing relay record with a time of 18 hours and 59 minutes. The previous record was established by an English team led by Julie Bradshaw in 2004, with a time of 19 hours and 7 minutes.

Gonzales-Hermosillo swam four turn with a total of four hours, while the rest of the team swam three turns each. The first leg from Dover to Calais was covered in 10 hours and 1 minute, while Gonzalez-Hermosillo concluded the relay with the last leg.

Nora Toledano trained the team, which must have helped as Toledano holds the record for the most channel swims by a Mexican female swimmer.
