Matchup Between Japan and Australia in the Works -- August 26, 2007

TOKYO, Japan, August 26. ACCORDING to a report by Craig Lord of SwimNews, Japan and Australia could have a head-to-head clash between the 2008 Olympics in Beijing and the 2012 Games in London. With the United States likely to face a group of European All-Stars, SwimNews indicates that Australia will square off with Japan as a replacement to the Duel in the Pool.

The report says that during the Japan International Meet, held last week and featuring a number of fast times, officials from Australia and Japan discussed a meet beginning in 2009. For Australia, which has been soundly beaten in the overall scoring in its Duel in the Pool matchups with the United States, a competition against Japan would be more equal.
