Swimmers Rough Up Masters World Record Book at SPMA Regional Meet in Mission Viejo --

MISSION VIEJO, California, August 9. OVER the weekend, the Masters world record book took some hits at the SPMA Regional Meet held in Mission Viejo, Calif.
Swimming World Magazine contributor Karlyn Pipes-Neilsen claimed several more global standards in the 45-49 age division with a 2:28.42 in the 200 back, a 30.03 in the 50 fly and a 32.10 50 back split as part of a medley relay. She also became the first woman over 45 under a minute in the 100 free with a 59.79 split. She also set the 800 free standard with a time of 9:24.11, while breaking the 200 fly record with a time of 2:27.33.
Meanwhile, Caroline Krattli swept the breaststroke world records in the 45-49 age group with wins in the 50 (33.98), 100 (1:15.65) and 200 (2:45.20).
Additionally, Susan von der Lippe turned in a 1:13.80 in the 100 breast and a 2:25.03 in the 200 IM to set a pair of 40-44 world standards.
In mixed 200 medley relay action, the 280-319 team of Betsy Jordan, Anne Williams, Mike Freshley and Bob Best registered a world-record readout of 2:38.61.

Reaction Time Comments
August 10, 2007 Over 70 Nova Masters swimmers contributed to the effort to win the championship by 500+ points over the host Mission Viejo Nadadores Masters swim program last weekend in Southern California.
The meet looked to be a very close battle between the Novas and host Mission Viejo Nadadores who each had about 70 swimmers in the meet.
However, Nova Masters proved to have the talent as well as depth and won the meet convincingly.
