Lia Neal Breaks 11-12 National Age Group 50 Free Record; Annie Zhu Lowers 11-12 200 Breast NAG at St. Mary’s City Speedo Sectional

ST. MARY'S CITY, Maryland, July 22. ALREADY the holder of the 10&U National Age Group long course meter records in the 50 free (28.59) and 100 free (1:02.11), Lia Neal, 12, of the Agua Swim Team set the 11-12 NAG in the 50 free at the St. Mary's City Speedo Sectional.

Neal won the overall title with a time of 26.72, which not only beat Rebecca Kane of the Jersey Gators (26.85) for the one-lap crown, but also clipped the 11-12 NAG set by Jennifer Vanker in 1992 at 26.81.

Additionally, Annie Zhu, 12, of the Twisters dropped a huge amount of time off her previous 11-12 NAG of 2:37.70 set this year when she hit the wall in 2:34.28 to win the 200 breast at the meet.

In a pair of distance freestyle swims, Emily Kelly, 15, of Long Island Aquatics won the women's 800 free in 8:53.29, while teammate Sean Lane, 17, captured the men's 1500 free in 16:03.90.

Another Long Island Aquatics swimmer, Daphne Skelos, claimed the women's 200 back in 2:17.66, while Louis Vayo picked up the men's 200 back in 2:04.40.

In other action, Andrew Trepp of New Canaan YMCA won the men's 50 free in 24.00, while Pavel Buyanov won the men's 200 breast in 2:23.50.

Ithaca Aquatics won the women's 400 medley relay as Leah Tourtellotte, Lauren Norberg, Logan Todhunter and Emily Peck touched in 4:25.10, while Peddie's team of Josh Charnin-Aker, Derick Chui, Peter Park and Bryce Hillman won the men's 400 medley relay in 3:58.71.
