Kate Dwelley Clocks Meet Record in 200 Free at Clovis Speedo Sectional

CLOVIS, California, July 20. KATE Dwelley of the Terrapins Swim Team dropped nearly a second off the meet record in the 200 free during the third night of long course meter swimming at the Clovis Speedo Sectional.

Dwelley won the 200 free by more than a second with a time of 2:01.90 that surpassed the previous standard of 2:02.80 set by Yana Klochkova in 2005.

Meanwhile, Rachel Grant of Brea Aquatics doubled up her 200 fly win (2:16.76) with a victory in the 400 IM in 4:53.14.

For the men, Mission Viejo's Chad La Tourette took home the 200 free title in 1:53.31 while teammate Charlie Rimkus, 16, snagged the 400 IM over a third teammate John Criste, 4:31.96 to 4:32.78.

Additionally, Tom Shields, 16, of Nova earned the 200 fly crown in 2:03.71.
