Petar Stoychev, Ekaterina Zhdanova Win Sabac Stop of FINA Open Water Swimming Grand Prix

SABAC, Serbia, July 16. BULGARIAN Petar Stoychev and Russian Ekaterina Zhdanova won the fourth leg of the FINA Open Water Swimming Grand Prix held in Sabac, Serbia on Sunday.

Stoychev checked in at 2:44:27, just ahead of second-place finisher Anton Sanachev of Russia. The Russian stopped the clock in 2:44:34, while Germany's Alexander Studzinski placed third right behind in 2:44:35.

The win was Stoychev's second victory of the season and moved him into third place on the overall chart with 39 points behind Argentina's Damian Blaum (42) and Studzinski (40).

In the women's race, Zhdanova won a close battle with teammate Anna Uvarova, 2:55:11.93 to 2:55:11.94, while Spain's Esther Nunez Morera took third in 2:57:16.

Morera leads the overall race with 55 points, while Argentina's Celeste Punet (40) and American Erica Rose (32) hold second and third, respectively.
