Vandals Invade George Haines International Swim Center

SANTA CLARA, California, July 12. ACCORDING to a story in the San Jose Mercury News, the George Haines International Swim Center was recently vandalized. The facility, home to the Santa Clara Swim Club and the annual Santa Clara International Invitational, had its diving pool filled with a variety of objects, including trash cans and refrigerators.

The newspaper story indicated that the vandals broke into the complex during the overnight hours and broke a number of office windows, with some of the glass landing at the bottom of the pool. It took two days for the cleanup to be completed, as workers wanted to guarantee that any glass on the bottom of the pool was removed.
