Club Wolverine Dominates First Day of Michigan Senior Challenge Meet

ANN ARBOR, Michigan, July 12. AS expected, Club Wolverine crushed the competition during the first day of long course meter swimming at the Michigan Senior Challenge Meet. Overall, they claimed every senior title on the table.

Margaret Kelly led the women with a pair of wins. She held off teammate Hannah Smith for the 100 back, 1:04.89 to 1:05.84, while beating teammate Melissa Jaeger in the 100 fly, 1:01.45 to 1:01.57.

Jaeger finished second to another teammate, this time to Justine Mueller as the duo battled with Mueller winning, 1:13.15 to 1:13.66.

Allison Schmitt won the 200 free in 2:04.20, while teammate Lindsey Smith wound up second in 2:04.75. Meanwhile, Kaitlin Sandeno easily won the 400 IM in 4:42.10.

In the men's meet, Grant Burch won the 100 breast in 1:06.46, with Alonzo Mandel snaring the 100 back in 57.94.

Peter Vanderkaay edged Chris DeJong in the 200 free, 1:48.56 to 1:48.84, while Davis Tarwater garnered the 100 fly title in 54.67.

Alex Vanderkaay rounded out the event titlists with a time of 4:20.37 in the 400 IM, just downing Erik Vendt's second-place 4:20.68.

Club Wolverine and the Oakland Live Y'ers joined forces this year to host this meet.
