Richard Charlesworth, Aurelie Muller Claim Wins at European Junior Open Water Championships

MILAN, Italy, July 6. GREAT Britain's Richard Charlesworth and France's Aurelie Muller crossed the line first in their respective categories of the 5K European Junior Open Water Championships. Additionally, Italy walked away with the team title after showing off its depth during the event held in its country in Milan.

Charlesworth picked up the men's title in 57:55.6 to finish ahead of a pair of Russian distance swimmers. Sergey Bolshakov earned silver in 58:20.3, while compatriot Artem Podjakov garnered third in 59:20.9.

In the women's race, Muller clocked a time of 1:02:49.6 for the win, while Slovakia's Teja Zuban finished second in 1:02:53.8. Italy's Rachele Tawny snared third place in 1:02:57.7.

In the team race, Italy scored 71 points for the win with France taking second with 45 points. German wound up third with 44 points.
