Greg Winslow Named Head Coach of University of Utah

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, June 26. ARIZONA State University assistant coach Greg Winslow has been named the next head coach at the University of Utah. He replaces Michael Litzinger, who left the Utes to become an assistant at the University of North Carolina.

"I am really excited about the challenge of taking over the program," Winslow said. "I think Utah is a place where you can win. I look forward to trying to do that. I am not scared of the big expectations involved, and definitely think that the athletes and myself will rise to the occasion at Utah."

During his time at ASU, Winslow coached NCAA All-Americans, 2004 Olympic swimmers and U.S. Olympic team trials qualifiers. In addition to his coaching duties, Winslow served as the men's recruiting coordinator.

Winslow came to Tempe after four years of developing the Falfins Swim Team in Colorado Springs into a regional powerhouse while also serving as an assistant coach at the Air Force Academy for the past two years. Under Winslow, the Falfins swim team grew from 40 swimmers in 1999 to more than 140 swimmers in 2003. In his second season with the team, he was named the 2001 Colorado Coach of the Year.

Winslow led the Falfins to Olympic Trials, Nationals, Sectionals and state competitions while the Falfins swimmers broke more than 85 Colorado state records. Winslow also finished his second year as an assistant coach of the Air Force Academy's men's swim team in 2003.

After graduating from college, Winslow began work on his Masters degree in athletic administration and coached the St. Cloud State University Huskies. He helped lead the program to its best season ever, with both the men's and women's squads finishing in the top 15 at the 1999 NCAA Division II National Championships.

Winslow is a former All-American swimmer for the University of North Dakota, where he was elected team captain two years in a row. During his college summers, he coached the Valley Swim Club in Colorado. He led the club to a state championship and was named the 1997 Colorado Summer Club Coach of the Year. Greg was married in August 2002 to his wife Jessica.
