Texas Talent On Display at Texas Senior Circuit Meet

COLLEGE STATION, Texas, June 23. TOP talent from the state of Texas, including Olympian Aaron Peirsol, took center stage at the 2007 Texas Senior Circuit stop in College Station, Texas on June 22.

In long course meter competition, Peirsol dropped a 1:56.91 in the 200 backstroke to finish just two seconds off his swim of 1:54.80 at the FINA World Championship in Melbourne. He then added the men's 400 free title for good measure with a time of 3:57.96. The time was good enough to knock two seconds of Peirsol's top time in his off event of 3:59.41 set in 2003.

Meanwhile, in the women's 200 back, Emily Neal of Aggie Aquatics nipped teammate Kristen Heiss, 2:18.67 to 2:18.91, for the win.

In the 100 freestyle, Samantha Woodward, 16, of Chesapeake easily won in 55.80, while Olympian Neil Walker went sub-50 in 49.79 for the men's win.

Alexi Spann of Longhorn touched first in the women's 200 breast in 2:35.36, while Oliver Mercado of Nuevo Leon placed first in the men's event in 2:26.30.

Kirsten Groome, 16, of First Colony, picked up the women's 400 free title in 4:17.64 for the final individual title of the day.
