Draganja, Cavic Manage Wins During Action in Florida

FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida, June 23. RACING at the Speedo International Age Group Invitational in Fort Lauderdale, Croatian sprint star Duje Draganja posted a victory in the 50-meter freestyle, edging Michael Cavic at the wall. Draganja checked in with a time of 22.63, with Cavic following at 22.74 for second-place honors. The men flipped finishes in the 50 fly, where Cavic clocked 24.06 to beat Draganja (24.14).

In the 200 freestyle events, Chelsea Nauta and Dominik Meichtry secured victories. Nauta was nearly four seconds faster than the competition, prevailing in 2:03.56. As for Meichtry, he covered the four-lap event in 1:49.62, which was plenty quicker than the 1:53.54 of Nathan Adrian. Julianne Lago was the victor in the 50 butterfly in 29.08.

Former Auburn University standout George Bovell, an Olympic medalist for Trindad & Tobago, defeated the field in the 100 backstroke with a mark of 57.12. Meanwhile, Bradley Ally of the University of Florida was the top finisher in the men's 200 breaststroke, thanks to a time of 2:19.36. A 2004 Olympian, the United States' Rhi Jeffrey won the 50 freestyle in 27.18, ahead of the 27.28 of Nauta.
