Tricia Wallace Named Head Women’s Swimming Coach at Augsburg

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota, June 13. TRICIA Wallace, a former collegiate swimmer at Minnesota State University Mankato, was named head coach of the Augsburg College women's swimming team, it was announced on Wednesday.

A Mankato native, Wallace attended the University of Minnesota-Duluth for a year before transferring to Minnesota State University Mankato, where she was a three-year letterwinner for the Maverick women's swimming team. She served as a team captain her junior and senior seasons, and earned Academic All-North Central Conference honorable-mention recognition in 2003-04. She was voted as the team's "Most Improved Swimmer" in both 2001-02 and 2002-03, and received the college's Maverick Achievement Award for senior student-athlete excellence in 2003-04.

She currently serves as a coach/instructor for the Edina (Minn.) Country Club swimming program.

Most recently, Wallace worked as an elementary school teacher at the Harmony School of Excellence in Houston, Texas. While in Houston, she also served as a youth volleyball coach for the Texas Elite Volleyball Club. She taught at the Adonai Christian Academy in Asheville, N.C., before moving to Texas. While in North Carolina, she served as an assistant coach for the YMCA Piranha Swim Team in Asheville. She also served as a swim instructor in Mankato, Minn., from 2001-03.

Wallace received her bachelor's degree in recreation, parks and leisure services resource management from MSU Mankato in 2004. She graduated Magna Cum Laude and earned Dean's List honors. She received her master's degree in experiential education from MSU Mankato in 2005, graduating Summa Cum Laude and earning Dean's List honors.

Wallace will be the third head coach in the history of the Augsburg women's swimming program, which will enter its fifth season of varsity competition in 2007-08. Charlie King served as head coach from 2003-05, while Mike Goldman served as head coach from 2005-07.
