Jonathan Massacand Sets Men’s 200 Back Swiss Record at Swiss National Championships

ZURICH, Switzerland, May 12. IN the third day of swimming at the Swiss National Long Course Championships held in Zurich, Switzerland from May 10-13, Jonathan Massacand set the Swiss record in the men's 200 back with a time of 2:03.40. His time eclipsed the 2:03.78 set by Luka Gabrilo on March 24, 2001.

Men's 400 IM
Stephan Bachmann easily claimed the national title in the 400 IM with a time of 4:27.87, while Julien Baillod pocketed silver in 4:35.64. Christophe Schmid grabbed bronze in 4:40.22.

Women's 400 IM
Iris Matthey took home the gold with a time of 5:08.64, while Ramona Pedretti finished second in 5:13.00. Patrizia Humplik closed out the top three in 5:16.75.

Men's 50 breaststroke
Damien Courtois picked up gold in a time of 28.79, while Rene Kolonko (29.42) and Benjamin Le Maguet (29.70) earned silver and bronze, respectively.

Women's 50 breaststroke
Celine Baillod won the women's breaststroke splash-and-dash with a time of 33.61. Patrizia Humplik (34.33) and Stephanie Spahn (34.55) wound up second and third, respectively.

Men's 100 freestyle
Christian Schneiter touched first in 51.29 for the gold, while Adrien Perez and Flori Lang battled for silver. Perez knocked off the newest Swiss record setter Lang, 51.50-51.57.

Women's 100 freestyle
Maria Ugolkova hit the wall first in 58.27, while Laura Noccioli (58.99) and Marina Ribi (59.19) captured silver and bronze, respectively.

Men's 200 backstroke
Jonathan Massacand joined Flori Lang in the national record setting club with a time of 2:03.40. His time eclipsed the 2:03.78 set by Luka Gabrilo on March 24, 2001. Gabrilo, meanwhile, took silver in 2:06.29, while Oliver Luescher garnered bronze in 2:08.01.

Women's 200 backstroke
Martina van Berkel put her hand on the wall first in 2:24.25. Vera Vallone nabbed silver in 2:24.38, while Nathalie Hirsekorn took bronze in 2:24.79.
