Jennifer Dean Signs With Washington State

PULLMAN, Washington, April 27. WASHINGTON State announced the signing of Jennifer Dean, a Campbell, Calif., native, to a National Letter of Intent.

Dean earned four varsity letters in swimming at Del Mar High School for head coach Christin Perrill. As a freshman, she was named Most Valuable Swimmer and placed first individually in the 200 freestyle and 100 freestyle events at the Blossom Valley Athletic League Championships. She repeated the Most Valuable Swimmer honor in her sophomore and junior season and was named an Academic All-American in both years. In addition, Dean has placed in the top-20 individually in every event she has qualified for at the Central Coast Section Championships. Most recently, she finished 16th overall in the 200 freestyle and 14th in the 100 freestyle in 2006.

"Jennifer Dean has a passion for the sport of swimming," said WSU head coach Erica Quam. "She has gained confidence through the course of this season and made tremendous strides – which is great for her heading into our program. She is eager to learn more about herself as a racer and I feel that she has a lot of room to grow and contribute to our team. Jennifer has also worked hard to be highly successful in the classroom. She has conveyed her excitement about what Washington State University has to offer her for her academic and career goals."

Dean is also a four-year letterwinner in cross country and has been named Most Valuable Runner all four years at Del Mar High School.

Special thanks to Washington State for contributing this report.
