Colorado Wins Second Straight ASA U. Title

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia, April 16. MAKE it a repeat for the University of Colorado at the American Swimming Association University League National Championships, held at the University of Virginia. It was the third edition of the meet. The ASA U. was founded due to the elimination of numerous varsity programs across the country.

Colorado posted a total of 668.5 points to defeat Virginia, which scored 531 points. Northeastern finished third in the 28-team field with 130 points. There are currently 22 teams taking part in the league, an increase from the 10 teams from a year ago. The clubs are student-run squads that equally emphasize friendly competition.

A total of 28 meet records were established during the competition, with Katie Klane of Colorado setting marks in the 100 butterfly, 100 backstroke and 200 individual medley. Meanwhile, Colorado's Piers Blyth set men's records in the 100 fly, 100 back and 25 fly. Lisa Whidden of St. Leo's set standards in the 400 I.M., 200 fly and 1650 free.
