World Championships: Swimoffs Held in 50 Freestyle and 100 Butterfly

MELBOURNE, Australia, March 30. THE action at Rod Laver Arena didn't come to an end with the United States' world-record effort in the 800 freestyle relay. After that race, a pair of swimoffs were held to determine positioning for tomorrow's evening session.

Men's 50 freestyle

Spain's Eduard Lorente claimed the alternate spot for the championship final with a time of 22.29, better than the 22.32 of France's Alain Bernard.

Men's 100 butterfly

Kenya's Jason Dunford ripped off a personal-best time of 51.85 for the eighth spot, while Papua New Guinea's Ryan Pini clocked a personal-best time of 52.10. Dunford is the first Kenyan to advance to a World Champs final.
