COLUMBUS, Ohio, March 21. AT the 2007 Crawfordsville Speedo Championship, a handful of swimmers governed the four-day meet. Just six swimmers were responsible for the fastest times in 22 of the events.

Alek Akerfeld of Middies Swimming led the pool with a total of six titles. Claiming a pair of events each day, Akerfeld began her dominance in the 200-yard freestyle when she stopped the clock at 1:50.40. Two events later, she swam eight seconds faster than any other swimmer to win the 400-yard individual medley in 4:20.65.

Akerfeld then posted the top time of 2:04.10 in the 200-yard individual medley to open the second day of competition. Jumping to an early lead and increasing it with every lap, she finished the day clear ahead of the heat in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:54.87. The 17-year-old finished off the meet as a double-event winner on Sunday. She finished the 200-yard backstroke in 2:02.31 before switching strokes to pick up the win in the 200-yard butterfly. Her time of 2:03.06 in the event was a pool record.
