Arizona’s Albert Subirats Doubles Up With Second-Best Time in 100 Back

By Jason Marsteller

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota, March 16. ARIZONA's Albert Subirats kept up a great night with his second title in as many tries with a time of 44.83. That time stood as the second-fastest time in the history of the event. It also gave Arizona its first victory in the event in NCAA history.

Subirats became the second man to turn in a nightly double behind Stanford's Jay Mortenson (100 back, 100 fly double 1987-89).

Indiana's Ben Hesen picked up second in 45.45, while Northwestern's Matt Grevers finished third in 45.61.

Auburn stretched its lead with a first-place total of 328, while Arizona held second with 238 points. Stanford (229), Texas (195) and Florida (165) were third, fourth and fifth, respectively.
