Utah Advance to 7-0 Record with Win Over New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico, January 20. THE University of Utah women's swimming and diving team completed its Mountain West Conference road swing with a victory over New Mexico on Saturday afternoon. The Utes beat the Lobos 135-100, to improve to 5-0 in the conference and 7-0 overall. "We saw very good things from our young swimmers today," comments Head Coach Michael Litzinger. "Our depth is starting to show through and that is exactly what we needed to see at this stretch in the conference."

Utah was led again by Amber Walter and Alison McInturff; each winning three events, respectively. Walter won the 50 free (23.68), 100 free (52.25) and 200 medley relay (1:47.41). McInturff pulled in victories in the 100 fly (57.05), 200 free relay (1:38.39) and was also on the winning 200 medley relay team. "Amber and Alison did a great job," adds Litzinger. "I'm very pleased with this road trip and how we competed. Now it's time to turn our focus to Wyoming and Air Force."

The Utes were also helped by Rachael Curci winning the 200 free (1:55.58), Adrienne Coburn won the 400 IM (4:31.70) and Shannon McQueen won the 500 free (5:12.97).

Both the men's and women's teams will return home to host Wyoming on January 26, at 5:00 p.m. Air Force will come to Salt Lake City on January 27, at 1:00 p.m. Both meets will be held at the Ute Natatorium.
