No. 5 Texas A&M Downs No. 8 SMU, 178.5-115.5

DALLAS, Texas, January 13. THE No. 8 SMU women's swimming and diving team fell to No. 5 Texas A&M this afternoon, 178.5-115.5. Before the meet, the Mustangs honored their six seniors in their last home meet of the season.

The SMU 200 medley relay team of Petra Klosova, Devon Callaghan, Angela San Juan Cisneros and Leane Darling combined for a second-place time of 1:43.49. The winning Texas A&M relay of Triin Aljand, Alia Atkinson, Rebecca Sturdy and Christine Marshall clocked in at 1:42.37, setting a new pool record.

SMU's Anja Carman and the Aggies Jenni Straton swam an even race in parallel lanes in the 1000 free but Carman maintained a solid pace and was able to surge at the end, grabbing first-place to stop the clock at 9:59.17, just out touching Straton who clocked in at 9:59.67. Katie Roberts swam a time of 10:06.23 for third-place and Federica Felloni placed sixth with a time of 10:34.19.

In the 200 free Jennifer Blackman finished second with a time of 1:50.28 and Celina Lemmen placed fifth with a time of 1:53.34 while Tiffany Sammis came in sixth with a time of 1:55.70. Carman finished third in the 100 back with a time of 56.21 and Klosova stopped the clock at 56.29 for fourth-place.

In the 100 breast, Devon Callaghan clocked in at 1:03.91 for second-place. Tamara Sambrailo finished third with a time of 1:05.44 and Jenny Basel followed in fourth-place with a time of 1:06.25. Justine Clark placed third in the 200 fly with a time of 2:04.27 while Jaime Williamson touched the wall at 2:10.68 for fifth-place.

Darling led the way for the Mustangs in thee 50 free as she finished second with a time of 23.57. Cisneros timed in at 24.05 for third place while Michelle Vlasakova placed sixth with a time of 24.43.

Klosova won the 100 free with a time of 50.25 as Darling touched in for fourth-place with a time of 51.05. Vlasakova placed sixth with a time of 53.06. In the 200 back, Carman stopped the clock at 2:01.58 for third-place while Callaghan placed fifth with a career-best time of 2:09.98. In the 200 breast, Sambrailo touched in for second-place with a time of 2:20.09. Basel placed fourth with a time of 2:21.79 while Willamson swam a time of 2:24.77 for sixth-place.

Blackman won the 500 free with a time of 4:52.90 as Roberts touched the wall at 4:55.09 for third-place and Felloni placed sixth with a time of 5:15.47. In the 100 fly, Clark placed second with a time of 56.07 and Cisneros timed in at 56.20 for fourth-place.

In the 200 IM, Callaghan set the pace for a fourth-place finish with a time of 2:07.54. Basel followed in the fifth-place with a time of 2:08.44 and Sambrailo placed sixth with a time of 2:11.94. The 400 free relay team of Darling, Blackman, Vlasakova and Klosova combined for a second-place finish and a time of 3:23.25. The winning Texas A&M relay of Codie Hansen, Trlin Aljand, Christine Marshall and Rebecca Sturdy clocked in at 3:22.56, setting a new pool record.

Kristin Schild won first-place off of both boards for the Mustangs. In the one-meter diving event, Schild posted a score of 255.00 while Mara Morhouse placed third with a score of 194.53. In the three-meter diving event, both SMU divers posted season-high scores. At first-place, Schild posted a career-high score of 302.92 while Morhouse scored a season-high of 211.35 for third-place.
