Convenience Store Chain Lends Hand to Pennsylvania Community

ALTOONA, Pennsylvania, December 27. SHEETZ Inc., a convenience-store chain that operates on the East Coast, is lending a hand to the community-swimming scene. Sheetz has donated $30,000 to make repairs to Prospect Pool and Memorial Pool, located in Altoona, Pa. The money has been earmarked for the summer of 2007.

Due to the need for repairs, the pools have been in danger of shutting down over the past few years. Now, however, they will receive facelift and will continue to benefit the community. Through the years, Sheetz has also supported Little League Baseball, scholastic and collegiate sports, along with the Special Olympics.

"These two pools have been landmarks in our community for decades. Generations of families and children spent their summers there and we'd like that tradition to continue," said Sheetz president and CEO Stan Sheetz. "Our family grew up here and enjoyed going to Prospect and Memorial. It's nice to give kids something safe and positive to do in the summer months. We're glad to be able to help."
