Linscheer Killed In Auto Crash -- March 23, 2000

Two-time Olympic swimmer Giovanni Linscheer, of Suriname, died yesterday in a two-car auto accident on Interstate 95 near Boca Raton, Florida.

Linscheer, 27, was driving in the wrong lane when he crashed head-on into a van and both vehicles exploded into flames, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Linscheer, a freestyle sprinter, competed at both the 1992 and '96 Olympic Games.
