Iradier Drops Spanish Record in 100 Breast at Spanish Championships

BARCELONA, Spain, December 16. BORJA Iradier, the king of the breaststroke in Spain, broke his record in the 100 short course event at the Spanish Championships held in Barcelona, Spain on Dec. 16.

Iradier broke the minute-barrier for the first time in the event with a 59.22 to shave nearly a second off the 1:00.04 he notched on Dec. 17, 2005.

The time stands as the seventh-fastest 100 SCM breast this year.

In other record-breaking action on the day, Erika Villaecija eclipsed the meet record in the 400 free with a winning time of 4:05.74. That effort surpassed the 4:05.95 previously set by Arantxa Ramos on Dec. 18, 2005.
