SwimmingWorldMagazine.com Weekly Channel Recap: December 16, 2006

PHOENIX, Arizona, December 16. IN an action-packed week of activity across the spectrum of the world of swimming, SwimmingWorldMagazine.com kept its readers updated with the massive amount of news within the sport.

Laure Manaudou smoked the European Short Course Championships with a world record in the 400 free, while a plethora of other national records fell in the various World Championships Trials occurring throughout the globe.

John Lohn checked in with a pair of premium articles. First, he gave credit to Kate Ziegler's great run at the Tom Dolan Invitational before reminding the swimming community that our athletes really should be considered innocent until proven guilty when it comes to performance-enhancing drugs.

In other commentary, publisher Brent Rutemiller explored what might be the keystone in all of the conversation about saving college swimming, while Lohn recapped last weekend's international scene. Additionally, a Swimming World Magazine correspondent from Japan, Hideki Mochizuki, looked at China, Japan and Korea as those countries prepare for the World Championships.

On Swimming World Radio, Rutemiller scored an insightful interview with Dave Marsh as they spoke about his move from Auburn to Mecklenberg, and then Ziegler and her coach Ray Benecki spoke with Rutemiller about her record-breaking weekend.

Northwestern junior Andrea Hupman also kept us abreast of the Wildcats' holiday training trip in Hawaii in the "A Day in the Life" series.
