Swimmer Splits from Coach -- November 18, 1996

From Reuter's News Service - Germany's Franziska van Almsick, Olympic silver medalist in the 200 freestyle in Atlanta, has reportedly split with her coach Dieter Lindemann. Van Almsick, who has worked with Lindemann throughout her senior career, will now link with Berlin coach Gerd Esser who also trains her friend Steffen Zesner. ``I had to think a lot about the change,'' van Almsick said on Saturday. ``I had six great years with him which were amazingly successful with 24 medals."
